Floods, tornado destroy
4 houses, damage 36

Floods that hit three towns in Negros Occidental during the weekend and yesterday affected 1,064 families, destroyed three houses and damaged 31, the Negros Occidental Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office reported.

A tornado also hit Barangay Doldol, Valladolid town yesterday destroying 1 house and damaging 5, which affected 12 families, the PSWDO reported.

Flooding in Pontevedra town hit seven barangays Recreo, San Juan, DSB, II, Corona, Mirano and Poblacion affecting 580 families or 3,649 individuals, the PSWDO added.

Eight families evacuated and five houses were damaged in Barangay San Juan, 30 families evacuated in Barangay Miranda, and five houses were damaged in Barangay Poblacion in Pontevedra, the report showed.

In Valladolid 484 families were affected by flooding in barangays Ayungon and Mabini that destroyed three houses and damaged 19, while in Pulupandan two houses were damaged in barangays Ubay and Palaka Norte.

The PSWDO will augment the food assistance of residents in affected barangays, while financial assistance will be given to those whose houses were destroyed and damaged, the PSWDO report said.*CPG
