A man stabbed dead his 3-year-old daughter and injured his live-in partner before stabbing himself at their residence in Purok Sunflower, Barangay Tangub in Bacolod City, at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
The fatality, whose name the DAILY STAR withheld for being a minor, and to protect the identify of her family, succumbed to multiple fatal stab wounds, according to her physician Dr. Regina Quiogue, a police report said.
The minor, her mother, and her live-in partner, both 28, whose names the police withheld, were brought to the South Bacolod General Hospital, but the child was declared dead at 12 a.m. yesterday, Police Officer 1 Kriscel Mae Doctora, said in her report to Chief Insp. Dianne Grace Catedral of the Bacolod Women and Children Protection Desk.
Initial investigation showed that the mother and her daughter were sleeping in their room when the suspect locked the door and stabbed the child several times, Doctora said.
The mother, who tried to pacify the suspect, was also stabbed in the chest, abdomen and arm. The suspect then opened the door, took the child and stabbed her again, before stabbing himself, Doctora said.
She said the crime scene had already been cleaned when they arrived and the family of the suspect turned over to them the kitchen kinfe measuring 13-inch long.
The mother and the suspect, who also had stab wounds on his chest and abdomen, are still at the hospital and are still under investigation, Doctora said.
A 17-year-old brother of the minor had witnessed the incient, Doctora also said.
She added that the mother has refused to subject the body of the child to an autopsy.*SGG
