Joint monitoring of EDC
projects in Valencia up
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

The local government of Valencia, Negros Oriental, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and other stakeholders have agreed yesterday to undertake joint monitoring activities of the proposed expansion project of the Energy Development Corporation in the town.

Valencia Mayor Edgar Teves said the agreement was reached following a consultative meeting yesterday, that was attended by representatives from the EDC and environmental advocacy groups who had earlier petitioned to stop the proposed 60-megawatt expansion project in Valencia.

Teves said he is happy with what he hopes is a win-win arrangement for all stakeholders. .
