12 dengue deaths
with July upsurge


The death toll from dengue in Negros Occidental in July is double the number in the first six months of this year.

There were four more deaths from dengue in July compared to four from January to June, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Provincial Health Officer, said yesterday.

Dengue also killed four children in Bacolod City in July, in addition to the eight in Negros Occidental this year.

The four deaths in Negros Occidental in July included girls aged 4 and 16 from Talisay City, a 1-year-old female from La Castellana, and a 10-year-old boy from Moises Padilla, a report from Tumimbang showed. moremoremore

Araneta group told
to clear property

Megaworld has given the Araneta Group of Companies until August 30 to clear the 34-hectare property in Barangay 41, Bacolod City of informal settlers so it could start the initial development of the area.

Remollo pushes for
speedy BUB projects

Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo is pushing for the speedy implementation of projects funded by national agencies under the Bottom Up Budgeting program since he said he has several projects lined up for implementation in the next three years.

Remollo was guest in Monday's opening activity of a three-day capacity training for civil society organizations and peoples organizations, initiated by the Department of Interior and Local Government headed by city local government operations officer Farah Diba Gentuya.
