Six cities in Negros Oriental each received a Mahindra patrol vehicle for their police stations, acting Philippine National Police provincial director, Senior Supt. Harris Fama, said.

The cities of Dumaguete, Bayawan, Tanjay, Bais, Guihulngan and Canlaon were the beneficiaries during the turnover ceremony for the Mahindra Enforcer Patrol Jeeps, held in Bacolod City, Monday.

The ceremony was led by Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, regional director of Police Regional Office 18, and Margie Biligan, OIC regional director of the Department of Interior and Local Government Region 18, Fama said.

The chiefs of police of the city police stations with their mayors and/or representatives received the vehicles, he added.

Meanwhile, the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office has been conducting Lambat Sibat operations in the cities and municipalities in the province that resulted in several arrests in just 11 days before the May 9 elections.

In Dumaguete, chief of police Supt. Jovito Atanacio, armed with a warrant of arrest, cornered suspect Ramil Tubog Abalos, 39, of Purok 3, Batinguel. The report said the suspect was charged with qualified theft, in criminal case no. 2015-22993, under the Regional Trial Court Branch 41 of Dumaguete.
