‘Negros show of force
set for Mar, Leni today'

It will be a Negros Island Region show of force for Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas, his runningmate Leni Robredo, and their senatorial bets during their visit to Negros Occidental today.

They are expected to draw about 35,000 to four rallies in Negros Occidental today, Gov. Alfredo Marañon said yesterday.

Roxas first stop will be Kabankalan City where he will lead a rally that is expected to draw 7,000 people from Negros Occidental and Oriental, the governor said. .moremoremore

Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo leapt by 7 percentage points in the latest Social Weather Station survey released yesterday for a one percent lead over Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

The April 18-20 Business World-SWS Pre-Election Survey released yesterday also showed Rodolfo Duterte still in the lead for the presidency at 33 percentage points, followed by Grace Poe at 24 percent, Mar Roxas - 19 percent, Jejomar Binay – 14 percent, Miriam Defensor Santiago – 2 percent , and undecided – 3 percent.

In the race for the Senate, Ilonggo re-electionist Franklin Drilon was in first place, and two bets with Negrense roots – Migz Zubiri and Serge Osmeña - also in the Magic 12.

Labor Day activities set;
15,000 jobs available

At least 15,000 jobs are up for grabs in the Negros Island Region, comprising the provinces of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental, as the Department of Labor and Employment girds up for this year's 114th Labor Day celebration on May 1.

In Negros Oriental, several activities have been lined up for the celebration, to include a walk for-a-cause, a jobs fair for both local and overseas employment, a career fair, and a pre-Mother's Day celebration, among others, Maritess Mercado, DOLE chief labor officer, said.

At a Kapihan sa PIA forum yesterday, Mercado said the walk for-a-cause aims to raise funds for a child-labor free barangays in the province. .moremoremore
