The police yesterday seized P1.3 million in shabu in Bacolod and Cadiz cities.
About 150 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P900,000 were recovered from two drug suspects at B.S. Aquino Drive-Lacson Street in Bacolod City, yesterday.
Arrested were Christopher Dedel, 56, of Sto. Niño Village, Barangay Villamonte in Bacolod and Harie Cesar, 28, of Hacienda Silos in Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental, a police report said.
A day after the fire in Purok Litsonan, Barangay 36, Bacolod City, residents returned to clear the area and to salvage some galvanized iron sheets, wood, and other materials that they can use to rebuild their houses.
David Desuyo, 38, a fire survivor, told the DAILY STAR that they recovered only a few partly-burned galvanized iron sheets from the wreckage, as most of their properties had turned to ashes.

Bishop begs Blessed Mother
for cleansing of Dumaguete
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE & JUDY F. PARTLOW
Bishop Julito Cortes of the Diocese of Dumaguete petitioned the Blessed Mother for the cleansing of the streets of Dumaguete from the bloodstains of “our brother Dumagueteños who may be victims of drug-related crimes and unsolved killings”.
Cortes said he made the petition during the procession of the Blessed Virgin Mary from Simala in Cebu in Dumaguete Thursday.
He repeated the same during the mass yesterday, when, at the start of his homily, the prelate turned to the pilgrim image and, teary-eyed, implored the Blessed Mother to bring healing to Dumaguete and elsewhere in the province.
