DAR beefs up land reform

The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental North held a focus group discussion with Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries on crafting and strengthening of agrarian reform at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel yesterday.

The discussion aimed to document the experiences of the ARBs as the department continues to process the acquisition and distribution of landholdings, a press release said.

The activity was organized by the DAR Agrarian Reform Capacity Development Service and Public Assistance and Media Relations Service in partnership with Development Academy of the Philippines, Philippine Information Agency.

The stories gathered from the ARBs will be packaged and disseminated through appropriate media platforms or communication channels for agrarian reform target audiences, it said.

ARB organizations from northern Neg. Occ-- Dalayapan Agrarian Reform Cooperative, Nabinay ARC and Hacienda Bernardita ARC of Cadiz City, Sitio Tagnipis AR Beneficiaries and Farmers Association and LGEI Farmers Assn Inc. of Sagay City, Codcod AR Community Cooperative of San Carlos City, Begonia ARC of Manapla and Martir-Bluementritt Farmworkers Association of Murcia, and R.A. Golez ARC of Silay City and Sibato Tribal Community in Silay City joined the activity.

Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes said in a message that while DAR is prioritizing the acquisition and distribution of land holding for ARBs, “There is a need to hear and document their various experiences as beneficiaries of the agrarian reform program,” the press release also said.*KBC
