MANILA -- The proportion of Philippines' liabilities against gross domestic product further improved in the first half of 2015.
The Department of Finance, in its economic bulletin on fiscal performance in the first semester of this year, said the combination of strong rise in revenues, drop in budget gap, and stable interest rates bodes well for the government.
It showed that the country's debt-to-GDP ratio further went down to 44.9 percent from the 45.4 in end-2014.

“We should not wait for a waterless MassKara Festival,” Frank Carbon, president of the Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI), said yesterday.
He said the business sector is willing to help mitigate the effects of El Niño, especially during the upcoming MassKara Festival in Bacolod City.
Carbon said they will call for a meeting of all concerned sectors in order to be pro-active and to create a sense of urgency to cushion effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
Neg. Occ. Joining travel mart
The province of Negros Occidental together with the Bacolod-Talisay-Silay Tourism circuit will participate in the 26 th Philippine Travel Mart at the SMX Convention Center in Manila on September 4-6.
Their participation is part of the Department of Interior and Local Government Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development, in collaboration with the Canadian government, a press release from the Capitol said.
The Philippine Travel Mart has an annual foot traffic of about 50,000 visitors with an estimated income of P83 million, the press release said.
