The Negros Occidental provincial government led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. showcased Negros-made products at the opening of the International Food Exhibition (IFEX) featuring the 10 th Asia's Ethic Food and Ingredients Show at SMX Convention Center, Pasay, yesterday.
The IFEX Philippines is the biggest showcase of ethnic and specialty food, tropical fruits, vegetables, fresh seafood, Halal-certified products, as well as natural, organic, and functional food products in Asia, a press release from the Capitol said.
There are 875 companies from 14 countries joining the event that started yesterday, and will end Sunday.
The event aims to provide participants insights on the current market trends and tap the growing market demand for natural and organic products, the press release said.
Negros Occidental is showcasing food products from food processors assisted by Technology and Livelihood Development Center as well as natural raw and muscovado sugar. They are also introducing new products like muscovado sauce, oregano piaya and batwan powder.
This is an opportunity for the province to promote its products in both local and international markets while at the same time conduct business and gain new markets, the press release said.
The event is organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the Department of Agriculture, it added.*
