2 rebels, soldier killed

Two suspected New People's Army rebels and an Army soldier yesterday died in an encounter in Sitio Bugtong Lubi, Brgy. Damutan, Hinobaan, Negros Occidental.

Col. Francisco Delfin, 303 rd  Infantry Brigade commander, said 79th Infantry Battalion soldiers led by 2Lt. Alex Bunagan were conducting security operations when they were fired at about 12 suspected NPA rebels.

Delfin said this triggered 15 minutes of gunbattle that led to the killing of two suspected rebels, whose bodies were left behind by their fleeing comrades at the encounter site.

NPA seize guns,
abduct RPA member

Suspected New People's Army rebels raided a cock farm Thursday night in Hacienda Jamandre, Brgy. Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental, abducted a member of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade and seized five high-powered firearms.

The raid and abduction were claimed yesterday by the NPA Leonardo Panaligan Command in an interview with ABS-CBN Bacolod.

Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday said the cock farm that was raided by about 50 NPA members was owned by RPA-ABB leader Rene Europa, alias Maco. moremoremore

‘Pusher' apprehended
with gun, ‘shabu' in Bais

The police have arrested a suspected drug pusher, believed to be from Ozamis City, and recovered from his possession a .357 caliber revolver during a drug buy-bust operation in Bais City, Negros Oriental, Thursday.

The suspect, who was initially known as alias Utol later identified himself as Miguel Torres de la Cruz, the alleged live-in partner of Daisy Candido, Senior Insp. Ryan Jay Orapa of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, said.

An initial police report said that at around 10:15 p.m. of December 10, joint elements of the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, the Provincial Intelligence Branch-Special Operations Group of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, the local Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, and the National Bureau of Investigation conducted an anti-illegal drug operation, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, in Sitio San Jose, Barangay 2 in Bais City. .moremoremore
