The Dumaguete City government, led by Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria, handed over 10 radio handsets to the city police yesterday.
Sagarbarria turned over the donation to Supt. Jovito Atanacio, Dumaguete police chief, in a simple ceremony at the mayor's office.
He said the local government continues to provide assistance of any possible form to the city police to increase its efficiency in maintaining peace and order.
The city is also set to procure two more vehicles for crime-fighting efforts, the mayor added.
Atanacio expressed gratitude to the mayor and the city government for the continued support, saying the radio handsets will further boost the police's communication capabilities while the vehicles will boost their mobile patrols.
Sagarbarria had earlier allowedthe government-owned double-cab pick-up, assigned to him, to be detailed to the city police instead.*JFP
