Former Gov. Rafael Coscolluela said Saturday that the recent cancellation of Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas' visit to Negros Occidental is “complicated” and he is seeking a dialog with Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) to clarify matters.

Coscolluela, who heads the private sector campaign for Roxas in Negros Occidental, also said he is supporting some non-LP senatorial candidates.

“I am free to choose who my senatorial candidates will be, if they don't like that, they can fire me. In the first place I don't work for them,” he said.moremoremore

Alunan says beverage
tax not likely to pass

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negrense senatorial candidate Rafael “Raffy” Alunan said Saturday he does not believe the proposed bill that would impose excise tax of P10 per liter on sugar-sweetened beverages will be passed into law.

“This is because it does not have a counterpart bill in the Senate and is not a priority bill of the President,” said Alunan at a press conference in Bacolod City also attended by former Negros Occidental Gov. Rafael Coscolluela.

Alunan, a former Tourism and Interior and Local Government secretary who served in the cabinets of presidents Corazon Aquino and Fidel Ramos, is running for senator under the Bagumbayan party with former senator Richard Gordon. moremoremore

BY RENE GENOVE

A forum on “PAG-Ibig Electronic Collection/Remittance and Loyalty Card”  will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Guest House in Dumaguete City, a press release from organizers said.

It aims to further raise the public's awareness on the developments in PAG-Ibig programs and the adoption of information-technology based strategies, like the tele-collection service, utilization of email and text-blasts, and outsourcing of courier services for the delivery of monthly billing statements, and the recently-launched loyalty card program.

PAG-Ibig officers expected to attend the forum are Juvelita Custodio, area head of PAG-Ibig Fund South Central Visayas, Victoria dela Peña - vice president for Member Services Operations in Visayas and Mindanao, and Julio Carmel Alfarero - branch head of PAG-Ibig Fund Dumaguete. They will discuss the mechanics of the electronic collection, the process of application, and the benefits of the PAG-Ibig loyalty card.moremoremore
