New wages take
effect on Saturday

The new wage order increasing the daily salaries of workers in Western Visayas by P11.50 will take effect Saturday, Region 6 Director Ponciano Ligutom of the Department of Labor and Employment told the DAILY STAR yesterday.

Ligutom, who is also chairman of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, said the new wage order was approved by RTWPB on March 27 and published in a regional newspaper since April 17.

DOLE will release copies of the new wage order and it's implementing rules and regulations this week and those who do not abide with it will be meted appropriate penalties, he said.

Ligutom also said DOLE may levy the properties of the defiant employers or garnish their money in the bank. *APN
