Rain or Shine spoiled late comeback of Talk ‘N Text to win Game Six, 101-93, last night to force a winner-take-all match in the PBA Commissioner Cup finals at the Araneta Coliseum.
With their back against the wall, the Elasto Painters came out scorching both in offense and defense led by the conference's best import Wayne Chism and local Raymund Almazan who both finished with double-double output.
Chism scored 18 points and hauled down 24 rebounds while Almazan chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds highlighted with impressive 8-of-10 field goal shooting to tie the series at 3-3.
”It's a nice win for us. We played a lot better defense today than the last time,” head coach Yeng Guiao, referring to their 94-103 loss in Game Five last Friday.
”The only way to beat TNT is to be prepared to make the stops. We were able to challenge a lot of their shots,” he added.
TNT mentor Jong Uichico gave credit to the Rain or Shine for coming out with adjustments that forced the Tropang Texters to give up too many shots.
”It just boils down to one game, winner take all. In a series you don't know what will happen one game, then the next,” Uichico said.
Uichico partly blamed their defeat to the poor performance of their import, who scored only six points.
Ranidel de Ocampo spearheaded the Tropang Texters with game high 21 points followed by best player of the conference Jayson Castro with 17 markers.*PNA
