Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia recently led city officials in the groundbreaking ceremonies for the P2.5-million multi-purpose building in the Progreso Village relocation site, in the area known formerly as the Arao property, in Brgy. Vista Alegre.
Also present at the occasion were Vice Mayor Greg Gasataya, Councilor Em Ang, Councilor Caesar Distrito, and Brgy. Vista Alegre captain Jose Ma. Leandro De Leon and his councilmen.
This is a project of the Department of Public Works and Highways assisted by Leonardia's congressional office.
The multi-purpose building located in Purok Progreso 2 includes a basketball court with stage and basketball goals made of fiber glass, he added.
Work on the P2.5-million project starts today, April 6, and is expected to be finished in 100 days, or three months, the congressman said.
Leonardia also said the 50-hectare relocation site on the former Arao property was bought and developed during his time as mayor of Bacolod, and now that he is congressman, he is all more facilitating additional projects there to continue its development and make it more livable.
He said the relocation site encompassing both the former Arao and Abada-Escay properties, that the development of which he had also helped, totals 80 hectares and is the biggest relocation site in Bacolod.
At the Abada-Escay area, Leonardia will also facilitate the construction of a P2.5-million water system, aside from working on its electricity and road development.
As congressman for less than two years, Leonardia has also facilitated the construction of 14 multi-purpose buildings in 12 barangays in Bacolod costing P31.5 million.
These buildings are located in Brgy. 17, Estefania, Handumanan, Mandalagan, Singcang-Airport, Felisa, Taculing, Vista Alegre, Pahanocoy, Alijis, Mansilingan, and Taculing.*
