Let Holy Week reflections
inspire work for poor: guv
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday that he hopes that Negrenses, after praying and reflecting on the death and resurrection of Christ , will work with renewed vigor to help address the problem of poverty, and help ensure peace.

“We should unite in carrying out what Christ taught us to do, and work together to improve our province and our country,” said the governor who has just returned from the United States where he spent the holidays visiting his children and grandchildren.

He cited God's call to address the need of the less fortunate.

Marañon, quoting Pope Francis in his Easter message, said ““Christians, by the grace of Christ, dead and risen, are the seeds of another humanity, in which we seek to live in service to one another, not to be arrogant, but rather respectful and ready to help”.

Marañon also noted that the Pope said: “By his death and resurrection, Jesus shows everyone the way to life and happiness.”*CPG
