Lopue's Open

Hua Ching-LJS SAN BEDA and Table Tennis Association for National Development (TATAND) captured the championship in the men and women's team event while host Lopue's Tablte Tennis Association settled for the first runner-up honors in both events of the 7th Lopue's Openg Table Tennis Championship held March 27-29 at the LopTTA Center in Bacolod City, a press release from the organizers said.

The Hua Ching team, composed of Richard Gonzales, Jann Marie Nayre and Raymond Manlapaz beat LopTTA B of Rodel Valle, John Paul Gubaton, Adolfo Bazar and Angel Cuenca Jr. in the final, 3-1, to bag the crown in men's team event.

Team Ballesteros captures
2015 YBAC championship

Peewee Demonteverde and Marlon Caballero propelled Jun Ballesteros' squad to a 103-82 win against Team Lapore to capture the title of the 2015 Your Basketball Athletic Club Inter-Color Tournament played at the STI-West Negros University gym, a press release from YBAC said.

Down by four points at the end of the first half, 38-34, Demonteverde delivered 21 points in the third canto, including four triples, as Jojo Chua added six more points as Team Ballesteros started to pull away.

Earlier, Pao Pao Lim and Kokoy Pendon combined for 15 points for Team Lapore in the second quarter to keep the game interesting but the Ballesteros side managed to neutralize them in the next quarter to keep the lead at 67-53 going into the payoff period.

Dinagyawan cagefest
kicks off inVillamonte

The Dinagyawan Summer Basketball League opens at 1 p.m. today at the Villamonte Covered Court.

Organizers said this year's tournament drew participation from 50 teams that will vie for the top honors in the 11 Under, 14 Under, 17 Under, Inter-Barkada, Inter-Zone and Open categories.

Meanwhile, competition in the 9 th Mayor's Cup Basketball Tournament continues to heat up among the 32 teams that are eyeing the championship.
