SAGAY CITY – Other provinces of Western Visayas may be envious of Negros Occidental with the Department of Public Works and Highways investing P11.9 billion in the upgrading of national roads and bridges from 2011 to this year, DPWH secretary Babes Singson yesterday.
This only shows that we are not neglecting Negros Occidental, Singson said, adding that the P11.9 billion investments, represented 34 percent of the entire budget allocation for Western Visayas.
From 2011 to 2013, Singson said, they allocated P8.4 billion for Negros Occidental, with an additional P3.47 billion this year.
Singson had attended the inauguration of the 313 million Himoga-an bridge and access road in Sagay City.
He assured Negrenses that DPWH will continue to improve the quality and safety of national road and bridges in the province, aside from also improving its various tourist destinations.
Singson also said they are now working on the widening of the Himogaan access road into four lanes, as the volume ratio and capacity demands.*GPB
