PNoy: DILG studying
Negros Island region


President Benigno Aquino III yesterday said the Department of Interior and Local Government is studying the call for the creation of a Negros Island region, and is getting inputs from the National Economic and Development Authority.

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has asked that the island region composed of Negros Occidental and Oriental be created through an executive order issued by the President.

Solar power to hit
100MW by 2015

SAN CARLOS CITY – President Benigno Aquino III yesterday led the historic switch-on of the first large-scale commercially-financed and commissioned solar power plant in the Philippines that has began selling 13 megawatts of power to the Visayas grid, with an additional 9 MW set for next month.

The President said the San Carlos Solar Energy Inc. plant displaces carbon emissions equivalent to those produced by 14,805 tons of oil for each year of operations.

“It serves as a shining example of the collective steps we are taking to minimize climate risk,” Aquino said.

Ayalin finally falls in Zambales

The long arm of the law finally caught up with fugitive Noel Ayalin yesterday in Iba town, Zambales, through the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office.

Ayalin who is facing multiple and frustrated murder charges, in Silay City, Negros Occidental, ranks number one in the Police Regional Office 6 list of the top 20 most-wanted persons in the Western Visayas, Senior Supt. Milko Lirazan, acting provincial police director of Negros Occidental, said last night.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, said in a press conference, that the police operation against Ayalin was made, with the support of Rep. Alfredo Benitez and Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr, and especially of the Police Regional Office 3, whose operatives undertook the surveillance and served the arrest warrant.moremoremore
