The Department of Agrarian Reform, through the National Arces Program Coordinating Office-Support Services, will distribute 17 tractors all valued at P52.7 million in Negros Occidental, DAR Assistant Regional Director Florentino Seladan said Friday.
Seladan said the 17 120-horse power top-of-the-line brand tractors, estimated at P3.1 million each, is expected to boost production of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries in the province.
He said this is part of the 26 tractors distributed by the DAR national agency for Region 6, adding that nine other tractors will be distributed in Panay.
The funding for the acquisition of lands under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program with extension and Reform ended Monday.
But Seladan said support services will still be provided by the agency to help increase the production of the ARBs.
Last month NAPCO-SS Division head Ramon Estanislao visited the places where the tractors will be distributed to check if the beneficiaries have the capacity to maintain them.*APN
