ERC okays P14-M CENECO plan

The Energy Regulatory Commission recently approved the application of Central Negros Electric Cooperative to implement an emergency capital expenditure project worth P14,831,150 for the operation of a power sub-station in Silay City, its president,  Arnel Lapore, said yesterday.

Lapore said the 5-MVA substation at Hacienda Panaogao is expected to resolve the power problems  in the area.

With the operation of the power substation in Hacienda Panaogao, there are now two power substations in Silay with the other  in Hacienda Maquina, Barangay Rizal.

He said  the power  substations in Silay  are necessary to ensure a stable power supply in the city for its  bustling  businesses, because of the  presence of the domestic airport there.

Aside from the power substations in Silay City, CENECO will build two more in Bacolod City by next year, Lapore said.

He said they will be built at the Negros First  Cyber Center and near the PAGCOR Casino at the L'Fisher Hotel that  will  cost P20 to P30 million.*APN
