in arts in Bacolod, Neg. Occ.

The ArteKalye Festival at the Pope John Paul II Tower opened February 2 as part of the celebration of the Bacolod Arts Month, a joint project of the city government, led by Mayor Monico Puentevella, and the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros, headed by Marisol Alquizar, with the participation of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on History, Arts and Culture, chaired by Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue.

This is actually not the first ArteKalye. That was in 2009, at the road beside the Riverside Medical Center, where then AAB president Nune Alvarado used to have his Namit-Namit restaurant.

Other activities for the Bacolod Arts Month are the Sunday art bazaars, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the fountain area of the Bacolod Government Center; a free Valentine’s Day show, “Love & Arts” at the Bacolod public plaza; an art talk for art writers at the MassKara Hall of the BGC, February 15; free showings of “A Passion for Journey,” an independent film on child and organ trafficking, 10 a.m. to 12 noon, February 21-22, 27-28; and the “A Toast to Artists” closing program, February 28, also at the BGC.*RLE
