The Diocese of Bacolod is getting its share of attacks following its posting of its controversial “Team Patay (dead) Team Buhay (life)” tarpaulin at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City to campaign against the Reproductive Health Law.
A “Team Tatay (father)” text message listing the names of priests who allegedly have fathered children was circulating in Bacolod City, while a “Team Damaso” poster was posted on Facebook walls yesterday.
The tarpaulin of the Diocese of Bacolod hanging in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral tags senatorial candidates and partylist groups who voted for the RH bill as belonging to Team Patay and those who voted against it as belonging to Team Buhay.
The “Team Tatay” text message from “Buklod ng Malayang Pilipino” circulating yesterday bore the names of five priests of the Diocese of Bacolod who allegedly have fathered children.
“The Team Damaso ang Tunay Na Patay” poster, on the other hand, bears the names of Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra, an archbishop, five bishops and one priest.
Navarra yesterday said all these are part of a smut campaign against the clergy because of their campaign against the Reproductive Health Law.
These attacks are very unchristian, he said.
Some priests, who have had indiscretions in the past, have realized what they did, shown that they are repentant, reformed, and have made amendments, he said.*CPG
