4-in-1 summer workshop
for kids starts in Bacolod

The 4-in-1 Sikat Academy summer workshop for kids and teens starts today at the Robinsons Place Bacolod, managed by CGI Excel Events, TV Production and Marketing, a press release from the organizer said.

The activity aims to enhance the talents in singing, acting, dancing, newscasting and hosting of the participants.

The main workshop is open for kids and teens six to 15 years old, while the Sikat Academy junior playshop, composed of singing, acting, dancing and allied arts, is open to children three to five years old, the press release also said.

The teachers are Kulay Pikata for music, director Jade Snow Dionzon for theater, choreographer Rodney Ascalon for dancing, and local television host Charie Ginete-Ilon for speech. The junior playshop will be handled by Mary Jane Quilisadio.

In the dance and music classes, the students will be taught two production numbers per area, and in the newscasting/speech and theater classes, they will be trained using the scripts intended for the grand finale, that will be conducted after four weeks of training, the press release said.

The final presentation will feature workshop participants as KPOP stars and the junior playshop kids as super heroes on May 18 at the Robinsons Place Fountain Area. For more details, those interested may contact the Sikat Academy at 476-9353, or 0932-5387591, the press release added.*

Philippine Red Cross
celebrates 66th anniversary

The 100 chapters of the Philippine Red Cross have lined up the series of activities to celebrate the 66th anniversary of the organization today, a press release from the PRC said.

Activities organized by the Negros Occidental-Bacolod City Chapter and the Kabankalan City Red Cross Branch include the raffle draws for building renovation funds, blessing of newly-acquired rescue boat, and opening of the 2013 summer safety institute today.

There will also be a standard First Aid and Basic Life Support Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training, April 16-21; First Aid BLS–CPR instructors’ course, April 22-27; water safety and basic rescue boat handling, April 25-May 3;

World Red Cross Day–150 Years of Humanitarian Action photo exhibit, May 8; emergency vehicle/ambulance operations course, May 9-11; chapter disaster response team induction course, May 14-18; basic International Humanitarian Law dissemination training for volunteers, May 22-24; and culminating activities, May 30, the press release also said.

The Kabankalan City RC First Aid and disaster management training was also conducted April 4-9, the press release said.

PRC is an independent, nongovernmental organization auxiliary to the authorities of the Republic of the Philippines in the humanitarian field and is a member of the 187-strong International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the press release added.*
