Negros Occidental lost its bid to host the April 2013 Palarong Pambansa, that was awarded by the Department of Education to Negros Oriental, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said yesterday.
“There is nothing we can do about it, that’s their decision. We will abide by it,” the governor said.
Negros Occidental has hosted the Palarong Pambansa four times, while next year’s hosting will be the first for Negros Oriental.
“That is God’s will, there will be other opportunities for Negros Occidental,” Marañon said.
He said Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia informed him that other national sports activities are being planned for Negros Occidental.
Meanwhile, the governor said the province will hold the annual Panaad sa Negros Festival on the first week of April next year.*CPG
