A government employee linked to a murder incident in previous years, was gunned down Thursday by at least four assassins at the Canson Subdivision, Brgy. 2 poblacion, in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, police records show.
The victim, identified as William Yanson, 52, and a casual employee of the La Carlota City government, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead on arrival at the Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital, Chief Inspector Eduardo Corpus, city police chief, said.
Corpus said the killing of Yanson was well-planned and well- executed by the assassins, who used .45 caliber pistols.
La Carlota policemen who responded to the shooting incident, recovered 11 empty shells and two slugs of a .45 caliber pistol and a gun holster at the scene.
Based on the accounts of witnesses Corpus said one the four assassins was a woman. They fled on board three motorcycles.
Initial police investigations showed that Yanson had been linked to a murder in previous years. But, the family of the victim did not press charges against him.
Corpus said they are looking into the possibility that the killing was a form of “vendetta”.
