Four workshops for graduate students in psychology and related fields and mental health professionals are being conducted by the Psychology Department of the Silliman University, a press release from the school said.
The first on anger management, “Controlling Your Anger Before It Controls You”, held May 9 by Dr. Nelly Limabadan, was aimed to equip participants with the skills to deal with emotions, particularly anger, and make emotional expression work for them.
Two other workshops on “Psychological Test Development: All You Need to Know” was held May 10; and the "Stress Identification and Management Across the Lifespan” the next day, the press release also said.
Te second workshop, facilitated by Ericson Batican, aimed to capacitate participants with the different stages of test development; introduce statistical tools appropriate in establishing reliability, validity and utility of the test with use of a software; and discuss structural equation modeling for factor analysis, the press release said.
The third workshop by Prof. Rogen Alcantara sought to assist participants in identifying stress among children, adolescents and young and older adults; and learn strategies for stress prevention, reduction and management.
The fourth workshop that is still open for registration on “Projective Techniques: For Yourself, For Your Practice”, set on May 18 to 19, will be handled by dean Margaret Helen Udarbe-Alvarez of the College of Arts and Sciences. The training-workshop is for psychology graduate students and professionals, preferably with a background in psychological testing and assessment, the press release added.*
