A simultaneous spelling quiz, math and science contests, will be held in 30 clustered barangays of Silay, Talisay, Victorias and Murcia today, in line with the “Brainsbee ni Albee sa District 3” activity, a press release from organizers said.
There will be no limit to the number of participants in today’s initial barangay qualifying examinations that will identify the representative of each barangays to the next level of competition, the press release said.
Interested grades 5 or 6 pupils, and third year or fourth year high school students, who are bonafide residents of any barangay in the 3rd District of Negros Occidental, are qualified to join the spelling quiz for the elementary level, and the science and math contest for high school.
A synchronized qualifying quiz will be held today for barangays 1, 2 and 3 in Silay; zones 1 to 7 in Talisay; barangays 1 to 7, 9, and 14 in Victorias; and zones 1 to 5, Abo-abo, Talotog, Iglauan, and Caliban in Murcia, the press release said.
“Brainsbee” will discover for the third year new talents and will harness this potential, Rep. Alfredo Benitez said. He added that the community-based academic competition will reach all of the 115 barangays covering the 3rd District, the press release also said.
The qualifying quiz will continue until May 10. Cash prizes will be given to the winners in the city and town levels with the finals slated May 14 to 18; and the district champions in the grand finals on May 27, the press release added.* back
