Manhunt for Ayalin
still on, PNP says

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The police yesterday assured the families of the massacre victims in Brgy. Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, that they are not sleeping on their job, especially in the pursuit operation against fugitive Noel Ayalin.

Ayalin, who ranks number one in the list of most wanted persons in Negros Occidental is facing multiple murder and frustrated murder charges, in connection with the massacre of four barangay officials of Kapitan Ramon and the injuries of three others on March 6 last year.

Supt. Remus Canieso, deputy provincial police director for Operations of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, yesterday said that Ayalin had previously been spotted in Murcia and Bago City.

Canieso, however, said he believes that Ayalin is already out of Negros Occidental, after a police tracking team failed to arrest him in areas, where he was spotted.

Relatives, friends and family members of the massacre victims yesterday marked the first anniversary of the shooting rampage in Brgy. Kapitan Ramon, Silay City, with a prayer vigil and a candle-lighting ceremony mass at the old barangay session hall.

Kapitan Ramon barangay chairman Ramon Celebre, who was among the three survivors in the shooting rampage, called on the police to hasten the arrest of Ayalin, in an interview with ABS-CBN.

Celebre said his constituents, especially families of the massacre victims, are still suffering from trauma, from the incident.

Governor Alfredo Maranon is offering P500,000 as reward for the capture of Ayalin, who was denied bail by the court.

Canieso said they have furnished other police units outside Negros Occidental with copies of arrest warrants and pictures of Ayalin.

The four fatalities in the Kapitan Ramon massacre were Kagawads Luzviminda Cotamen, Pedrito Oroci, Freddie Juno and Imee Occena, while those who injured but survived the shooting rampage of Ayalin were barangay chairman Ramon Celebre, Kagawad Salvacion Corugda and Brgy. Treasurer Leni Llorca.

While Ayalin is being considered as armed and dangerous, Canieso said there is no shoot-to-kill order against him.

He, however, said “There is no let up in the manhunt operations against Ayalin”.*GPB
