Rep. Mercedes Alvarez (Neg. Occ., 6th District) said she and her father, Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr., remain United Negros Alliance and Nationalist People’s Coalition loyalists who will support whoever the party fields in 2013.
She said they will support Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr.’s bid for reelection if it is the decision of the party.
Meanwhile, she said she would prefer to seek reelection as congresswoman of the sixth district in response to questions of whether she and he father would swap posts in 2013.
There have also been speculations that her father may run for governor in 2013.
But the vice governor said that on Tuesday he will go for the post if Marañon does not run for it in 2013.
Maranon and Alvarez, who maintain that there is no rift between them, met yesterday to discuss a joint scholarship program between the provincial government and the University of St. La Salle.
The 10 scholarships that have already been filled are for food technology studies in USLS.*CPG
