Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz will stay as Bacolod City Police Director and Supt. Santiago Rapiz will not be removed from the city police Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group and the Special Operations Task Group.
This was disclosed by Police Regional Office-6 Director Chief Supt. Cepriano Querol, who was interviewed in Bago City yesterday, in reaction to the text messages circulating in Bacolod City that the two will be removed.
Querol said he has no authority to relieve de la Paz, who is holding a third level position, because only Camp Crame can do that. But, he added, he believes there is no reason why de la Paz should be removed from his post
He said that until now there is no relief order for de la Paz, who was recently nominated as Senior Police Commissioned officer of the year on the national level, reports coming from the Camp Crame said.
As to Rapiz, Querol said, he should not be relieved as he is effective as the head of CAIDSTOG and it can conduct two to three operations in a day which the previous head, Senior Insp. Joemarie Occeño and his men failed to do.
He stressed that Rapiz and his men even surpassed the performance of the anti-illegal drugs task force in Iloilo City.
Meanwhile, Querol admitted that, based on their intelligence monitoring, there are some policemen who are into illegal gambling activities.
Querol assured that once there are enough evidences against these policemen, they will be meted appropriate penalties. He added that the one-strike policy against police chiefs who are remiss in their anti-illegal gambling drives continues.
In fact, he said, two police chiefs from the 5th District of Negros Occidental were supposed to be relieved as the Regional Special Operations Group conducted anti-illegal gambling operations in their area without their participation but it did not push through because of the special elections.
Querol said another police chief in the Northern Negros Occidental was up for relief also for being remiss in the illegal gambling drive but it also did not happen because he had already been replaced before his relief order was implemented.*APN
