Bacoleño kills
rob suspect

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A suspected notorious robber was shot dead by the owner of a house in Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City, that he and his two unidentified companions ransacked at around 3 a.m. yesterday.

Killed was Emmanuel Cordova, 32, of Santa Catalina Street, Eroreco Subdivision in Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod, Station 4 chief, Senior Insp. Dianne Grace Aquitania said.

Cordova sustained a lone gun shot wound on the nape and was rushed to the Bacolod Doctors’ Hospital but he died while being treated several hours later.

Investigation showed that Elly Sander Ocampo, 36, of Ylac Street was sleeping in his room when he was awakened by noise outside his house.

Ocampo, armed with a .9 millimeter pistol, went out to check and saw Cordova and his companions carrying out the items they had taken from his house and were boarding their motorcycle to escape, Aquitania said.

Ocampo then shot Cordova, causing him to fall from the motorcycle while his companions fled, Aquitania added.

A clutch bag that contained a portable compact disc player and another clutch bag were recovered from Cordova while Ocampo’s wallet was seized from the pocket of his pants, police records showed.

Ocampo endorsed his pistol with eight rounds of live ammunitions to the police after the shooting, police records also showed.

Aquitania said that further investigation showed that Cordova is facing complaints in the area covered by Police Station 3. She said that they are waiting for the decision of Cordova’s family if they will pursue charges against Ocampo.*APN
