The Hotel and Restaurants Association of Negros Occidental will hold “Sabor Bisaya, A Culinary Competition and Food Expo that aims to promote and improve the standards of food service industry in Negros Occidental next month at the Convention Hall, Bacolod Pavillion in Bacolod City, Maricar Dabao of Jovial Media Events, said yesterday.
Dabao said the event will host a culinary competition open to students and professionals, a food expo that will showcase latest products, equipment, and technology related to food industry, seminars, and product demonstrations by leading food manufacturers and suppliers.
PESO gives jobs
to 2,900 workers
The Bacolod City Public Employment Service Office has placed 2,900 workers in April, 2,700 of them deployed locally and 200 overseas, Moises de la Cruz, PESO manager said yesterday.
De la Cruz said PESO is now concentrating on providing local jobs for applicants to accommodate influx of fresh graduates and skilled workers.
Compared to March, overseas deployment increased from 84 to 200 in April, where most of the hired workers were registered nurses and factory workers, he said.

The main Philippine Stock Exchange index went down by 172.24 points or 3.40 percent to 4,890.20 points over the previous trading day’s 5,062.44 points.
Also, the broader all shares index declined to 3,279.09 points, a drop of 86.72 points or 2.58 percent from last Friday’s 3,365.81 points.
