Rapiz named best Bacolod
cop despite suspension
7 OTHERS TO BE AWARDED
Supt. Santiago Rapiz, who is serving a three-month suspension has been chosen as Bacolod City’s Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer of the Year, BCPO director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said yesterday.
De la Paz said Rapiz’s good performance as the former head of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group and the Special Operations Group, cannot be erased by the suspension meted him by the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and Other Law Enforcement Offices.
Under Rapiz’s leadership, BCPO topped the performance in the anti-illegal gambling and illegal drugs in Western Visayas, De la Paz also said.
He said Rapiz will receive his award with Senior Insp. Jose Mulleta, SPO1 Aries Escarda and PO2 Felipe Moncatar, as Best Junior Police Commissioned, Best Senior Police Non-Commissioned and Best Junior Non-Commissioned officers of the year, respectively, on August 16 at the BCPO headquarters.
The suspension of Rapiz stemmed from the complaints filed against him by Carlota Villadar, the wife of Sergio Villadar, 57, of Brgy. Libertad, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, allegedly the supporter of a politician, who was apprehended at Crossing Buli, Brgy. Mabini in the city on May 7, 2012, by members of the Public Safety Management Battalion allegedly for illegal gun possession.
Rapiz, former chief of police of Escalante, had earlier said the wife of Villadar, now deceased, had claimed that they committed negligence by not remitting her husband to the court immediately.
Meanwhile, the Police Station 9, headed by Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, was chosen as the Best Police Station of the Year for exemplary performance in the anti-criminality drive, De la Paz said.
The BCPO will also recognize Ma. Teresa Castillo as Best Non-Uniformed Personnel, Bernard Seva as Best Civilian Employee of the Year, and Eladio Pescadero as Best Traffic Enforcer of the Year.*APN
