EB Magalona NHS alumni
fun run, induction July 14

The EB Magalona (Saravia) National High School Alumni Association Inc. will hold a “Fun Run and Walk for a Cause 2012” and the induction of alumni and PTA Federation officers tomorrow in EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The activity, themed “Lakat, Dalagan para sa Eskwelahan (Walk, Run for the School)”, will start 5:30 a.m. at the EBMNHS ground, and will end at Hacienda Carmelo in Brgy. Santo Niño, also in the town.

The top 20 finishers for the alumni, adult and student categories will receive awards.

The activity will be followed by the induction of the newly-elected EBMNHS Alumni Association Inc. officers, with Reynaldo Depasucat as president; Ramon Duropan, vice-president; Salvacion Senayo, secretary; Amy Grace Bolivar, treasurer; Angeles Verdeprado, assistant treasurer; Carmela Sandra Poral, auditor; Danilo Diaz, business manager; and Rolen Bendecio and Nilda Gutierres as public information officers.

Anadula Gabuya, Lemar Ledesma, Narciso de la Rosa, Nicanor Gamboa, Dr. Eleazar Gamboa and Santos Batiduan will be inducted as board of directors, and Melende Castro as adviser.

The EBMNHS PTA Federation Officers for 2012-2013, who will also be inducted, are Edmund Balajadia, president; Romulo Villanueva, vice-president; Diadema Hinayan, secretary; Ma. Teresa Alvarez, treasurer; Salve Bedonia, auditor; Evelyn Bolivar, assistant auditor; Shiela Genova, PIO; Suzette Tabanao, assistant PIO; Lerome Duaban, business manager; and Mario Bolivar, sergeant at arms.

Jovel Sumagaysay, Ma. Lisa Pancho, Lourdes Villanueva, Maribel Gendrala and Felix Barbasa are the board of directors.

TM club changes name

The Noceco Toastmasters Club has changed its name to Pearl of the South Toastmasters as approved by its officers and members at their first meeting recently, its press release said.

The change was made so that the club would not appear to be an exclusive organization of Noceco, Cherrie Grace Abkilan, vice president for membership, said, adding the club is actually open to all those interested to join.

The club also decided to intensify the membership campaign outside of Noceco, with teachers and office workers as target, the press release also said.

The Pearl of the South TM officers for 2012-2013 are Eduardo Yap, president; Jonas Discaya, VP for education; Abkilan, VP membership; Lawrence Britanico, VP public relations; Grace Ann Mendoza, secretary; Churchie Destriza, treasurer; and Japheth Mapa, sergeant-at-arms.

The club aims to improve communication and leadership skills, and develop self-confidence and personal growth among its members, the press release added.*

80 daycare kids attend
storytelling at city mall

Around 80 children attended the storytelling activity at Robinsons Place, Bacolod City, Wednesday, in line with the National Children’s Book Day celebration, sponsored by the City Public Library, a press release from organizers said.

The activity was aimed at developing the love for books and reading among the children. Participants were from the daycare centers of barangays Mandalagan and Bata in Bacolod.

The storytellers were Cecilia Sayson, Councilor Mona Dia Jardin and Ryan Gamboa of ABS-CBN Bacolod, while provincial librarian Joyce Deloso was the master of ceremonies, the press release also said.

The activity was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bacolod (Mother Club) that gave the snacks for children, coloring books and crayons, while ABS-CBN donated packs containing pencil, writing pad, noodles and sardines, the press release added.*

Anne Curtis to
invade Bacolod

Multi-talented actress Anne Curtis will be in Bacolod City for her “Annebisyosa: No Other Concert Provincial Tour” at the University of Saint La Salle Coliseum 8 p.m., July 21, a press release from organizers said.

Joining Curtis in a night of fun, singing, dancing and fashion are the G-Force, Jimmy Marquez, Rachel Ann Go and Luis Manzano.

Due to the overwhelming clamor from her fans, the tickets are discounted at 30 percent if bought on or before July 16 to accommodate Anne’s supporters in the provinces of Negros Occidental and Iloilo, the press release also said.
