Fees set for market streamers

An ordinance imposing fees for every streamer placed within the premises of Bacolod’s Central Market, North Public Market and South Public Market, was passed on first reading Wednesday by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Authored by Councilor Catalino Alisbo, the ordinance said the Bacolod City Government will impose a fee of P500 per month for every streamer installed/placed within the zone premises of the three public markets in the city.

Only streamers installed with prior approval of the city government and barangay will not be imposed fees including commercial establishments with streamers hanged within the perimeter of their stalls, it said.

The ordinance said the Office of the Market Supervisor will be tasked to formulate the implementing guidelines for the efficient implementation of the regulation.

The three market supervisors will have full authority to cancel/stop the installation of every streamer within its zone premises if it violates any of the provisions of the implementing guidelines, it said.

Meanwhile, a resolution requesting the senior citizens of Bacolod City and Social Security System retirees and pensioners to extend full support to Bayan Muna Reps. Teddy Casiño and Neri Colmenares for the passage of their Bill increasing the monthly pension to P7,000 from SSS, was approved by the Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

Also authored by Alisbo, the resolution said Casiño and Colmenares filled a bill in Congress seeking the increase of the monthly pension of retirees and pensioner of SSS from P2,400 to P7,000.

The bill also aims to amend Republic Act 1161 as amended by R.A. 8262 in the SSS Law and now pending in the Congressional Committee on Government Franchise and Prioritization since March 10, 2011, it said.

The resolution said the bill gained support from (Negros Occidental, 4th District) Rep. Jeffrey Ferrer and Rep. Thirdy Marañon (2nd District), who co-authored House Bill 4365 authored by Colmenares and Casiño, that will increase the monthly pension of SSS pensioners to a minimum of P7,000.*CGS
