The killing of the wife of an overseas worker in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, in front of her two daughters recently, could not have been motivated by robbery, Chief Insp. Cresenciano Cordero, provincial chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said yesterday.
Cordero, who took over the investigation from the Hinigaran police, said their investigation showed that the family of victim Ma. Theresa Vinco has no valuable items at their residence.
Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, requested the CIDG to take over the probe, following allegations by the family of the victim that the crime scene had been cleaned up by the Hinigaran police.
Cordero said a witness has surfaced, and offered his help to solve the killing of Vinco, who succumbed to nine stab wounds.
He said the witness told them that he saw a man on board a motorcycle near the residence of the victim before the stabbing incident took place.*GPB
