Casimero’s promoter to claim
IBF flyweight belt in Argentina

Sammy Gello-ani, the promoter of Ormocanon Johnriel “Quadro Alas” Casimero, said that he will claim Casimero’s International Boxing Federation flyweight championship belt in Argentina next month.

Gello-ani said the ugly riot prevented the announcer from formally presenting the belt to Casimero after his 10th round technical knockout of Argentine Luis Alberto “The Mosquito” Lazarte last Feb. 10 at the Mar de Plata in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The boxing mess has prompted the 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod of Ormoc City to pass a resolution last Feb. 16 urging the IBF to investigate the riot that erupted after the ring announcer declared Casimero as winner.

The resolution described the incident as a “disgrace” to the boxing sport which “deserves to be dealt with accordingly by the IBF which has jurisdiction over the fight.”

It urged the IBF to “implement proper precautionary measures to ensure the safety and protection of all boxers” and strengthen existing policies "in order to avoid such untoward incident to happen in the future.”

Casimero will begin training in March to defend his title against a still unknown challenger on April or May probably in Las Vegas.*PNA
