It had been raining heavily all day so everyone was surprised at the huge crowd who had gathered recently at the Grand Ballroom of Pavillon Hotel to celebrate the birthday of our beloved Monsignor Felix Pasquin, Vicar Forane/Rector of San Sebastian Cathedral.
The guests came in their semi-formal attire despite the nasty weather, which shows the high regard Msgr. Pasquin is held by all. The celebrator was all smiles as he greeted Bishop Vicente Navarra, Mayor Bing and Elsa Leonardia, visiting church dignitaries, family members and all the other guests who came to greet him with beso-beso y abrazo.
Dinner was a delectable array of specially-prepared dishes designed to tickle the palate of even the most discriminating. After everyone had their fill of the delicious feast, the emcee Eddie Dechilla, called on a few guests to say a few words about Msgr. Pasquin.
Mayor Bing praised the celebrator for all that he had achieved here in Bacolod City, especially for spearheading the creation of the Pope John Paul 11 shrine at the Reclamation area. Bishop Navarra lauded his dedication to his work in the Cathedral and all the other things he had accomplished. Even historian Modesto Saonoy lavished high praises on the celebrator. But it was Father Gordoncillo who made the audience (including the celebrator) laugh with his revelations about Msgr. Pasquin.
During his speech, Msgr. Pasquin thanked everyone who came to greet him on his birthday and said how much he appreciated all the people of Bacolod who had taken him into their hearts.
As usual, the guest lingered awhile to chat with friends and enjoy the company of the fun-loving people of Bacolod.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MONSIGNOR PASQUIN!*
