MANILA – Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio de los Reyes asked the members of the committee on appropriations of the House of Representatives yesterday for compassion on the more than 7,000 employees to be affected by the DAR rationalization plan.
DAR has proposed a P21.4-billion budget for 2013, a government press release said.
De los Reyes said that in the planned reorganization plan of the DAR as the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program Extension with Reforms Law expires in 2014, the welfare of the affected employees should be taken into consideration.
seminar slated Aug. 23
The Employees' Compensation Commission, the attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment will conduct a seminar on Employees' Compensation Program to increase awareness and remind employers on their responsibilities to their workers on Aug. 23 at O'Hotel in Bacolod City, Ma. Victoria Mondragon, DOLE provincial director, said yesterday.
The speakers will be Stella Banawis, executive director of ECC, Ma. Cecilia Maulion, chief of Information and Publication Assistance Division, Dr. Ma. Sarah Antonia Concepcion, and Alicia Borres, Mondragon said.
DOLE invited 195 employers from different sectors like the business process outsourcing companies, manufacturing, big sugar plantations, and contractors' group to keep them updated and aware on their liabilities to their workers and to strengthen the implementation of the program, she said
Paravets get stipend
Representatives from 15 local government units who trained as paraveterinarians received their monthly stipend amounting to P402,000, recently.
Catheryn Narez, livestock coordinator, yesterday said the amount covers the paravet allowance of 429 paravets from March to June 2012.
Covered by the releases are the towns of Ilog, Manapla, La Castellana, Hinigaran, Pulupandan, Cauayan, San Enrique, Valladolid, and the cities of Victorias, Cadiz, La Carlota, Himamaylan, Bago, Sagay, and Kabankalan.
