MANILA – Effective 9:30 a.m. yesterday all Philippine Airlines flights covered by the rerouting or contingency flight paths reverted back to their normal flight paths.
However, flights which departed or were airborne before 9:30 a.m. Friday still followed contingency routes.
The return to “normal flight paths” covering an estimated 12 flights of Philippine Airlines was a result of the lifting by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines of the Notice to Airmen, which contained the alternative flight paths to be followed by flights traversing the eastern section of Luzon as well as the no-fly zone.
The lifting of the NOTAM was a result of the failed satellite launch by North Korea.
In the NOTAM, flights traversing the eastern section of Luzon must take alternative paths due to the declared “no fly zone” over that part of the country. The no fly zone was originally slated from April 12 – 16, from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m.*PNA
