Bayani Challenge organizers are calling for more volunteers to help in the construction of houses for victims of tropical storm “Sendong”, in Amlan, Negros Oriental.
This developed even as the challenge to build 50 houses in five days has been ongoing since April 9, in Barangay Tambuhangin, in the town, led by the Gawad Kalinga, Joseph Rivera, GK Panay and Negros area project coordinator, said.
Interested volunteers can register with the Office of Amlan Mayor Bentham dela Cruz, he added.
The House Build 2012 targets the construction of 120 housing units, with the 50 hopefully to be finished this week, and the rest of the 70 units completed by July, Rivera added.
Each unit has a 22-square meter floor area on a 60 square-meter lot, with a pre-cast walling, and costs P110,000.
The National Housing Authority has allotted P18 million for the Tambuhangin project, including the construction of a road leading to the site, and the installation of water and electricity services.*JFP
