Alleged CAFGU man

A member of the 12th Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit battalion based in Camp Leon Kilat in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, is in hot water for his alleged involvement in the killing of a businessman and president of the mother unit of the Rotary Club in Dumaguete.

In their joint affidavit, special investigators Ernesto Tagle and Marlon Manzanaris of the National Bureau of Investigation, said that SCAA Ramel Dongcoy was among the three persons to whom the victims’ caretaker had confided about the relationship, and that, they had gathered at the Larena beach house in Cangmating, Sibulan to plan their move to eliminate Larena, on the evening of Oct. 19, 2011, before the incident.

The NBI agents further said that, based on the text messages and call logs of recovered cellphones of the victim and that of the caretaker’s wife, and their admissions, they were able to establish that Dongcoy was also present at the crime scene in Cangmating, Sibulan, in the morning of Oct. 20.

It was possible that Dongcoy could be the one who brought Jerry Enocerta and his wife Espedita back to the Cangmating beach on board his motorcycle, reports said.

The caretaker also said in an interview with the DAILY STAR that Dongcoy arrived at the beach house at about 7 a.m. to look for his girlfriend identified as Evangeline Sedillo, cousin of Espedita, who was also alleged to have a relationship with the victim.

Meanwhile, Col. Francisco Patrimonio, 302nd brigade commander, said Dongcoy is under camp restriction for his possible involvement in the crime, and that, investigations will be conducted to determine his whereabouts at the time of the murder.

Lt. Col Roberto Salvador, 12th CAFGU battalion commanding officer, has confirmed that Dongcoy is under him but was detailed to the 302nd brigade.

Jerry Enocerta was also charged for illegal possession of firearm because a .357 handgun was found at the beach house, on the midnight of that day.

Enocerta claimed the firearm was issued to him by Larena for his personal protection as caretaker of the beach house, especially after receiving threats from a certain lawyer.*JG
