Talisay aims for
balanced growth

Talisay City is determined to become “The Village City: A Model of Balanced Development by 2040” initiated by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia where interested LGUs adopt the Performance Governance System, a Philippine Information Agency press release said yesterday.

PGS is a policy governance framework consisting of comprehensive long-term goals, action plans and quantifiable measures to track the city’s progress. The system also identifies the core strategies and objectives that contribute to the achievement of goals set, the press release said.

Mayor Eric Saratan will face a 14-man panel in a Public Revalida  (validation) in Manila today as a candidate for completion of the compliance stage of the PGS. Twelve of them will come from ISA and three from the city representing identified sectors. With the mayor were Dr. Remia Tipon, Dr. Joy Vingno and Laarni Aguilar.

Saratan will present the city’s developmental plan outputs that include cascading philosophy, second level scorecards and strategic initiatives, Multi-Sectoral Governance Coalition, communication plan and the plan to set-up a full-time functional office for strategy management.

Saratan said inclusion of Talisay in the ISA provides a road map to good and effective governance and they are more determined and fired up to take every step of this journey with pride and unity.*
