Sexagenarian cries rape
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A mentally-ill sexagenarian woman was raped allegedly by her jobless neighbor in Brgy. Granada, Bacolod City, Saturday.

Women and Children’s Complaints Desk chief, Insp. Jovy Cabcaban, said the victim, 60, whose name the police withheld, was accompanied by her brother in reporting her ordeal to the WCCD yesterday.

Investigation showed that the victim’s brother had gone to the rice field and left his sister alone in their house when the suspect, 45, whose name is also being withheld, came and raped her.

A witness, whose name was not disclosed, told the police that he passed by the house of the victim and saw her standing and leaning on the wall, naked, while the suspect was molesting her, Cabcaban said.

The witness immediately went to the rice field and informed the victim’s brother of what he saw. The victim’s brother rushed to their house and saw the suspect in the act, Cabcaban also said.

She added that the victim’s brother mauled the suspect, who is also his close friend and drinking buddy, before calling the police to arrest him.

The suspect is now detained at Police Station 5 although he refused to talk with the police about the accusations against him.

The victim has already undergone a medical examination as of yesterday, although the results are not yet available.*APN
