Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday emphasized the importance of the role of the barangay peace action-keeping teams in the anti-criminality campaign.
De la Paz, who spoke at the Brgy. Handumanan gymnasium during the graduation of 35 BPAT members, said that the fight against crimes of the BCPO has been successful because of the force multipliers.
He also lauded the BPAT members’ volunteerism in helping their community attain peace and order.
Meanwhile, De la Paz also said that the decision to retain Chief Insp. Noel Polines as commander of Police Station 2 depends on Police Regional Office-6 Director Chief Supt. Cepriano Querol.
Polines was removed from his post and was replaced by Senior Insp. Lester Leada Tuesday, two days after the Police Regional Office-6 Special Operations Group arrested 10 persons at a room in Pavillon Hotel and resort for alleged illegal jai alai operations.
The barangay captains under the jurisdiction of Police Precinct 2 went to the Sangguniang Panlungsod Thursday and aired an appeal to reinstate Polines.
The barangay captains were Barangay Captains Madeline Diaz of Brgy. 18, Bernabe Sibug – Brgy. 7, Imelda Baguanga – Brgy. 2, Raymund Salaberia – Brgy. 5, Mailyn Dewara - Brgy. 8, Eduardo Cordova – Brgy. 10, Ricky Filoteo – Brgy. 3, Antonio Ongsingco – Brgy. 4, Rudy Baydo – Brgy. 6, Ronnie Serrano – Brgy. 9, and Rogelio Pabiania – Brgy. 17.*
