Negros team eyes
final slot in PFF U23
BY NIDA BUENAFE

Football takes centerstage once again at the Panaad Park and Stadium starting tomorrow when the Negros Occidental FA battles three other Group A regional finalists for the final slot in the PFF-Suzuki Men’s U23 National Championship.

The Negrenses, known in the football circuit as a formidable squad to get entangle with, will scramble for one of the two final seats allocated for Group A.

To advance to the national championship, the Negros team will have to get past the No. 2 team from the National Capital Region, Mindanao regional finalist Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog, and Luzon regional titlist Masbate.

LJP takes lead
in bowling tilt

LJP Trading/NPBC snatched the upper hand, while former leader Department of Public Works and Highways slipped to second overall of the ongoing Bacolod City High School Class ’73 Five-Man Team organized Open Bowling Tournament at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

With Gil Villagante as anchor, the NPBC pincrushers are Edjie Balayo, Steve Po, Buddy Ferrer, Cano Gaudite, Jam Morales, Rowena Juarez, Maila Balayo and Hernand Garciniego.

The squad had 1,521 pinfalls in the fifth game to unseat the DPWH rollers, who rolled a dismal 1,491 points in their last outing..

Public venues set
for Pacquiao fight

Activities in the entire province of Negros Occidental and Bacolod City are expected to stand still once again this Sunday, when epic fighter and boxing superstar world champion Manny Pacquiao slug it out against Shane Mosley to defend his WBO Welterweight title at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

As in the previous Pacquiao fights, the city government of Bacolod will set up free live telecast of the fight in several areas of the city.

Giant screens will also be put up at SM Cinema Bacolod to accommodate those who want to watch the fight in the comfort of the movie theater, for a fee.
