The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or the 4Ps, potential beneficiaries who are mostly indigenous people in Mabinay, Negros Oriental, are now enrolled in the program.
The 4Ps of the Department of Social Welfare and Development had earlier identified more than 1,000 potential household beneficiaries in Mabinay and encouraged them to sign up for the conditional cash transfer of the government for health and education needs.
Mabinay has the most number of indigenous people with the most number of religious groups, whose leaders later agreed to be partners in the program implementation, DSWD sources said.
Earlier, Mabinay Mayor Ernesto Uy, DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilya provincial coordinator Asela Bella Tse, and leaders of the indigenous and religious groups met to discuss the 4Ps program.
More than 70 percent of the unregistered potential beneficiary households in Mabinay have complied with the requirements and have registered themselves as Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries, bringing to more than 4,000 the total beneficiary households in Mabinay town.
As of this month, an estimated P6.5 million conditional cash grant had been distributed to the beneficiaries in Mabinay, the same sources said.*JFP
