r and two construction workers sustained burns, when they were hit by lightning Thursday in Sitio Binalawan, Brgy. Balicotoc, Ilog, Negros Occidental.

Inspector Louie Figueroa, Ilog police chief, yesterday said Eva Celedonio, 40, was declared dead on arrival at the Kabankalan District Hospital.

However, her daughter, Cheienne, 22, survived, Figueroa said.

Two other laborers identified as Gerald Atellido,24, and Alvin Enriquez, also suffered minor burns, investigations by the Ilog police showed.

Figueroa said Celedonio and her daughter were selling rice cakes to the laborers of the New Canlaon Construction Co., who were working on an irrigation canal, when lightning struck them.

After being given initial treatment at the Kabankalan District Hospital, the three survivors were transferred to the Corazon Locsin Regional Hospital in Bacolod City.* GPB
